Registered Nurse (RN) Inpatient Pediatric Float Pool (Nights)

Job Summary
Assess, plan, educate, and evaluate age-appropriate care for pediatric patients while incorporating family-centered principles and cost-effective strategies. Perform and document comprehensive biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental assessments. Analyze situations to anticipate potential problems and detect changes in patient status, then re-prioritize and update the plan of care based on new information. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and patient care conferences, documenting all activities in the medical record. Float across all ICUs, Acute Care, PACU, IR, and ER units. Night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. required. Bachelor's degree or equivalent nursing education with at least nine months of professional nursing experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, associate's degree, or technical diploma in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement or an associate's degree in a related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining an RN license required or must be currently enrolled in a nursing bridge program working toward an MSN with a verified BSN-equivalency or a signed agreement
- 9 months experience in professional nursing (minimum)
- RN License by Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse License Compact
- CPR – Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
- The ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills, good time and resource management skills, flexibility, strong oral and written communication skills, knowledge of unit-specific equipment, and knowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, PALS, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards
