Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU Float oversees and delivers patient care on a nursing unit, coordinating with the healthcare team, assessing and planning care, and supervising both RNs and non-RN personnel. Responsibilities include assessing patients continually, developing and updating individualized plans of care, implementing and coordinating care with the team, evaluating patient responses and readiness for discharge, and providing education to patients and families. The role includes precepting new staff, serving as charge nurse, and demonstrating advanced skills in neuro assessment, airway management, tracheostomy suctioning, and ventilator care within a neuro-focused context. Requires the ability to work on different units as distribution of staff/patients shifts, with emphasis on performance in customer service, teamwork, and staff development; education required and experience targeted in acute nursing with critical care emphasis. Qualifications include graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred) and 1 year of acute nursing experience; CT RN licensure is listed as the licensure requirement.
