Job Summary
Assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions continuously, develop individualized care plans, and coordinate interventions with the healthcare team. Implement and evaluate care strategies for complex cardiac, medical, and neuro patients, including those on ventilators, with tracheostomies, or requiring mechanical circulatory support. Perform airway management, suctioning, and care for patients in halo braces while documenting outcomes and educating patients and families. Functions as a preceptor for new staff and may assume charge nurse roles to delegate and supervise unit activities. Works in high-acuity cardiac ICUs and stepdown units caring for patients with myocardial infarction, heart failure, and post-operative cardiac surgeries.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- BSN
- Current BCLS certification
- Licensed and a currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
Desired Qualifications
- BSN preferred
- Clinical specialty certification
