Job Summary
Conduct direct nursing care for critically ill medical and surgical patients in ICU-1, managing assignments for patients requiring hemodynamic support, respiratory devices, or CRRT. Develop and evaluate individualized patient care plans while documenting accurate clinical assessments and discharge strategies. Support new staff members through onboarding and precepting, and actively participate in performance improvement initiatives and departmental committees. Evaluate evidence-based practice to integrate research into daily clinical settings. Shifts are 36 hours in the evenings and nights, with weekends and holidays required. Required Qualifications
- Massachusetts RN Licensure
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Certification(s) relevant to the department and the type of patient care being provided
- Experience based on level (I, II, III, or IV)
- 0 – Less than 12 Months of RN Experience
- 12 Months - Less than 3 Years of RN Experience
- 3 Years - Less than 8 Years of RN Experience
- 8 Years of RN Experience
- Weekends and Holidays Required
- Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and turning patients
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting
- Exposure to infectious disease and possible carcinogenic chemicals
- Exposure of blood-borne pathogens
- Requires fine manual dexterity to lift and maneuver patients
- Requires visual and aural acuity necessary to monitor patient care
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team
- Knowledge of and application of the nursing process
