Job Summary
Registered Nurse on the Heart and Vascular/Cardiac ICU (RN-HVC) unit. Provides comprehensive nursing care including neuro and airway management, suctioning, ventilator support, and care for post-operative cardiac patients (CABG, valve replacements) with exposure to ECMO, Impella, LVADs, and IABP. Functions include supervising non-RN staff, serving as charge nurse as needed, and acting as a preceptor to new staff; delivers patient- and family-centered education, develops and communicates care plans, and contributes to readiness for discharge. BSN preferred; current CT RN licensure required; BCLS certification required within one month of hire; opportunity to advance through SPIRE clinical advancement program; unit emphasizes integrity, patient-centered care, respect, accountability, and compassion.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
- BSN preferred or higher
- current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire
- Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged
