Job Summary
Registered Nurse in the Heart/vascular care unit (HVC) with responsibilities spanning assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, supervision of non-RN personnel, charge-role duties, and cross-unit coverage as needed. Plays a key role in developing and documenting patient care plans, coordinating with the healthcare team, educating patients and families, and acting as a preceptor to new staff. Requires current RN licensure in Connecticut, BSN preferred, and BCLS certification within one month of hire; clinical specialty certification encouraged. Unit-specific experience includes neuro care, airway management, tracheostomy care, ventilator management, and familiarity with cardiac ICU and CTICU workflows. Emphasizes adherence to core values (integrity, patient-centered care, respect, accountability, compassion) and compliance with NPO standards and SPIRE advancement opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- BSN preferred
- Current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire
- Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
- Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged
- Experience/role expectations aligned with Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator supervision and charge nurse responsibilities
- Ability to function as preceptor and in leadership roles within unit
- Compliance with scope and standards of practice and state Nurse Practice Act
- Participation in SPIRE clinical advancement program (encouraged)
- Strong communication, patient-centered care, teamwork, and professional development
