Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) – Heart Failure/Neuro-focused roles in the Cardiac ICU units under the YNHHS system. Responsibilities include assessing patients’ physical and psychosocial status, developing and communicating a plan of care with patients/families and the healthcare team, coordinating plan implementation, evaluating patient response and readiness for discharge, providing patient education, serving as a preceptor to new staff and acting as a charge nurse. Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program with licensure as a Connecticut RN; BSN preferred; BCLS certification within one month of hire; Clinical specialty certification encouraged. Unit-specific care areas include Cardiac ICU, CTICU/WP3, and HVC Cardiovascular ICU/Stepdown, with expertise in neuro assessments, airway management, tracheostomy care, ventilator care, and devices such as LVAD/ECMO as described in unit details.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- BSN preferred
- Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
- BCLS certification required or to be obtained within one month of hire
- Clinical specialty certification encouraged
