Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) - HVC Heart Failure Nurse at Yale New Haven Health System provides specialized cardiac care across multiple units (HVC Cardiac Medical Intermediate Care, Cardiac Surgery Intermediate Care, Verdi 3 East, Verdi 5 East, 5-7 telemetry) focused on complex cardiovascular conditions including heart failure, post-operative CABG, valve replacements, and dysrhythmias. Responsibilities follow ANA Scope and Standards of Practice: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, health teaching and promotion, and evaluation. Emphasizes leadership, collaboration, professional ethics, cultural congruence, effective communication, and evidence-based practice. Requires Licensure in Connecticut, BSN preferred, and current BCLS; encourages engagement in SPIRE clinical advancement program. The role supports patient-centered care with teamwork across the cardiovascular units and involvement in diverse cardiac populations (including HF, post-procedural care, and electrophysiology). Responsibilities include autonomy within professional practice, adherence to professional standards, and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
- Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut.
- Current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire.
- Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged.
