Job Summary
Correctional nursing role at Halifax County Jail for an LPN or RN. Hands-on, 12-hour day shifts with rotating schedule and every-other-weekend coverage. Responsibilities include direct patient care (assessments, treatments, medication administration), responding to health concerns, monitoring chronic conditions, following established treatment plans, documenting medically, and acting as the primary clinical resource during assigned shifts. Requires independent clinical decision-making within facility procedures and nursing standards, with opportunities for professional growth and a competitive starting pay of $32+ per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Active LPN or RN licensure (state of Virginia or eligible for Virginia licensure)
- Experience or ability to practice in correctional/nust context desirable
- Ability to perform direct patient care, including assessments, treatments, and medication administration
- Ability to document accurately and timely per nursing standards
- Strong clinical judgment and autonomous practice within facility policies
