Job Summary
Provide patient care on the General Surgery Medical-Surgical inpatient unit using the nursing process while maintaining professional accountability and coordinating care with other departments. Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by direct care givers and uphold patient rights and confidentiality. Perform duties consistent with Mercy service standards, including physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, and bending or squatting as needed. Work the night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM on a full-time 36-hour schedule. Maintain current Missouri RN licensure and BLS certification, with a preference for BSN holders and prior hospital experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
- Night Shift | 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
Desired Qualifications
- BSN preferred
- Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
- Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting
- Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit
