Job Summary

Coordinate patient care in collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, performing physical exams, administering medications, and assisting with gastroenterology procedures including ERCP, colonoscopy, and endoscopy. Direct care for patients pre, during, and post-procedure while monitoring vital signs, recognizing adverse symptoms, and managing emergency situations. Conduct independent clinical triaging, screen walk-in patients, and make referrals to ancillary services such as social work and dietitians. Perform psychosocial assessments, educate patients on self-care and procedure preparation, and ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record. Recognize and report abnormal test results, instruct patients on medication administration, and facilitate optimal clinical outcomes in a mission-focused military treatment facility.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizen
  • Associates Degree of Nursing
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • one (1) year of clinical or inpatient experience, post-education/graduation and post-licensure, within the last two (2) years providing direct care in multispecialty inpatient or outpatient clinical settings
  • recent hands-on proficiency in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nurse care for patients across diverse medical and surgical specialties in accordance with current professional nursing standards
  • Professional Certification (s): Gastro: ACLS, BLS approved by AHA or American Red Cross
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse
  • Must have appropriate TB test documentation within the last year

  • Monitor patient post-procedure activities to assess patient status, comfort, inspection of venous and arterial sites, inspection of telemetry and 12-lead electrocardiography data, and surveillance of appropriate medical therapy
  • Assist physicians during endoscopy procedures by providing necessary instruments and equipment
  • Perform nursing duties in the endoscopy procedure room, including assisting with pre-operative processes, monitoring vital signs, and documenting procedural findings
  • Assist the anesthesiologist and gastroenterologist during procedures
  • Assist with checking in, booking, and scheduling patients
