Registered Nurse (RN) | Full Time | Nights - Progressive Care Unit

Job Summary
Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the Mississippi Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards in the Progressive Care Unit. Manage patient populations across all ages while demonstrating clinical judgment, emotional stability, and the ability to multi-task under pressure. Supervise licensed practical nurses, patient care assistants, and unit technicians. Maintain competency through required certifications including BCLS, ACLS, and specialty-specific credentials such as PALS or NRP. Perform duties requiring moderate physical activity, frequent movement throughout the facility, and close visual acuity. Work the 7 PM to 7 AM shift with flexibility for schedule changes based on hospital needs.
Required Qualifications
- Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi
- BCLS certification
- De-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days)
- Appropriate level of de-escalation training
- Minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience
- Inpatient clinical experience within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program
- Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities
- Superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations
- Ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations
- Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
- Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages
- Ability to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction
- Ability to make fine discriminations in sound
- Close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus
- Ability to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue
- Ability to work schedules assigned with the understanding that changes may be instituted according to the needs of the hospital for off days, shifts or weekends
- Moderately active physical capability involving sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area
- Capability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body
- Capability to use many physical motions in performing daily work activities
- Capability to be subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease
- Capability to use repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard
- Specialty certifications as listed for specific areas (Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab, Congestive Heart Failure, Cardiovascular Surgery, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, Labor & Delivery, Medical Nursing, Nursery, Pediatrics, PACU/Recovery)
- 12 months to acquire the appropriate certification for specialty areas from the date they begin working
- 18 months to acquire TNCC certification for the Emergency Department
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years of inpatient clinical experience
- Inpatient clinical experience within the past five (5) years, or evidence of successful refresher program
