Job Summary
Assess, identify, implement, and evaluate patient care through the nursing process, including administering medications, diagnostic tests, and formulating plans of care. Collaborate with other health care providers to ensure effective patient outcomes and serve as a resource nurse during orientation. Apply knowledge of patient age, cultural diversity, and spiritual needs while contributing to quality improvement techniques. Perform duties requiring considerable physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, moving patients and equipment, and navigating hallways and stairways. Work 12-hour night shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
- Current licensure in the State of Arkansas
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Ability to practice nursing as described by the definition: The diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health alterations
- Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including but not limited to administering prescribed treatments, medications and diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care using the problem list, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others
- Safety sensitive position classification (impaired performance could result in harm)
- No active engagement in the use of medical marijuana
- Ability to lift and move patients
- Ability to push carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment
- Ability to lift or push up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend over to perform certain duties
- Ability to maneuver throughout halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies
- Visual and auditory skills
- Ability to perform a significant amount of writing and computer entry
- Ability to make trips to various departments
- Ability to wear gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles when exposed to infectious wastes and body fluids
- Availability for 12 hr shifts
- Availability for Nights
