Job Summary
Assess, plan, and evaluate dialysis patients for home peritoneal and hemodialysis therapy while documenting data, adjusting treatment plans, and notifying physicians as needed. Provide one-on-one training to patients and families on equipment operation and maintenance, administer prescribed medications, and initiate emergency response measures during initial clinic visits and home care. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify barriers in the home environment, ensure laboratory collection procedures, and lead the Clinical Advancement Program for entry-level RNs with at least one year of nursing experience. Requires on-call rotation, night shifts, and weekend coverage with travel to training sites.
Required Qualifications
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 12 months experience as a RN
- Successful completion of all FKC education and training requirements for new employees
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs as high as 5 feet
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs with assistance
- Must be available for on-call rotation
- Must be available for night shifts
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be available for holiday shifts
- Must be available for travel to training sites, other facilities or patient homes
- Must be able to perform essential functions in other locations including patient's home
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a Registered Nurse (preferred)
- Home dialysis therapy experience (preferred)
- Successful completion of 3 months experience as a RN in home peritoneal dialysis and / or hemodialysis
