Required Qualifications

• •Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• •Current appropriate state licensure
• •Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
• •Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
• •Must have a minimum of 12 months experience as a RN
• •Successful completion of 3 months experience as a RN in home peritoneal dialysis and / or hemodialysis
• •Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
• •Must be able to lift 200 lbs.
• •Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs.
• •Must be able to bend over
• •Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
• •Must be able to move machines and equipment with assistance
• •Must be able to assist with ambulation
• •Must be able to move patients
• •Must be able to move equipment
• •Must be able to handle infectious and contagious diseases/materials
• •Must be available for on-call rotation

• •Must be able to perform staff training
• •Must be able to orient new staff
• •Must be able to ensure correct laboratory collection procedures
• •Must be able to ensure correct laboratory processing procedures
• •Must be able to ensure correct laboratory shipping procedures
• •Must be able to reschedule missed laboratory collections
• •Must be able to update nursing assessment and plan of care
• •Must be able to ensure patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options
• •Must be able to identify expected outcomes
• •Must be able to document nursing assessments
• •Must be able to collaborate with the home care partner
• •Must be able to collaborate with direct and ancillary patient care staff
• •Must be able to provide safe and effective delivery of dialysis therapy
• •Must be able to initiate emergency response measures
• •Must be able to serve as a resource for the health care team
• •Must be able to perform all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor
• •Must be able to receive guidance from the Educator, Preceptor or another Registered Nurse
• •Must be able to perform in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations
• •Must be able to perform dialysis therapy
• •Must be able to provide clinically competent care
• •Must be able to coordinate care
• •Must be able to assess patients
• •Must be able to manage patients
• •Must be able to communicate patient related issues
• •Must be able to participate in the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health care team
• •Must be able to enhance patient care outcomes

• •Must be able to supervise Patient Care Technicians
