Job Summary

Coordinate dialysis therapy for assigned patients by administering medications, collecting laboratory samples, and adjusting treatment plans based on data analysis. Provide initial and ongoing education to patients and families regarding home dialysis equipment operation and safety while assessing home environment readiness. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to document nursing assessments, identify barriers to treatment, and initiate emergency response measures as needed. Participate in staff training, orientation of new hires, and quality improvement activities within the End Stage Kidney Disease care team. Requires 12 months of RN experience with 3 months in home dialysis; includes on-call rotation, night/weekend shifts, and travel to patient homes.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current appropriate state licensure
  • Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
  • Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
  • Must have a minimum of 12 months experience as a RN
  • Successful completion of 3 months experience as a RN in home peritoneal dialysis and / or hemodialysis
  • Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Must be able to lift 200 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend over
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to move machines and equipment with assistance

  • Must be able to receive guidance from the Educator, Preceptor or another Registered Nurse
  • Must be able to perform in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations
  • Must be able to perform dialysis therapy
