Job Summary
Conduct home dialysis therapy for assigned patients by assessing, planning, and evaluating care while administering medications and initiating emergency responses. Perform systematic data collection and analysis to adjust treatment plans, document outcomes, and ensure correct laboratory procedures. Provide initial and ongoing education to patients and families regarding equipment operation, safety, and transplant options. Identify home environment barriers and train partners on dialysis treatment protocols. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update nursing assessments and participate in staff training and quality improvement activities. Rotate coverage with licensed home therapies staff and participate in on-call rotations for night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 12 months experience as a RN
- Successful completion of 3 months experience as a RN in home peritoneal dialysis and / or hemodialysis
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods
- Must be able to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs
- Must be available for on-call rotation
- Must be available for night shifts
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be available for holiday shifts
- Must be available for travel to training sites, other facilities or patient homes
- Must be able to perform essential functions in other locations including patient's home
Desired Qualifications
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a Registered Nurse (preferred)
- Home dialysis therapy experience (preferred)
