Job Summary
Manage complex cases in a fast-paced, 13-bed free-standing emergency department with 60 daily patients. Perform competent nursing care using the critical thinking model, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Coordinate care with physicians, PAs, and ED Techs while maintaining a patient-first mindset. Full-time nurses work three 12-hour night shifts with 16 hours of required call per six weeks; part-time roles involve two 12-hour shifts with 12 hours of call. Experienced critical care nurses complete a 10-week orientation. This role supports Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital's commitment to high patient satisfaction and low turnover in the Charlottesville area.
Required Qualifications
- Registered nursing License
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN
- 2 years of Emergency Room Experience
- Critical care experience in hospital
- ACLS
- PALS
- BLS
- Full Time nurses have 16 hours of required call per 6 weeks
- Part Time Nurses have 12 hours of required call per 6 weeks
- Experienced critical care nurses can expect an orientation period of 10 weeks on the unit
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
