Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN), Medical Surgical Float Pool provides and coordinates nursing care across Medical Surgical units during a patient’s hospital stay. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive nursing assessments and reassessments, developing and evaluating plans of care, administering medications and therapies, coordinating with the health-care team, ensuring accurate documentation and handoffs (e.g., SBAR, bedside shift reports), delivering patient and family education, and ensuring safety and infection control compliance. The role emphasizes timely, high-quality care, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to nursing standards while supporting flexible scheduling options (Full Time, Part Time, Weekend Option, PRN). Key skills include patient assessment, care planning, pain management, abuse recognition, documentation, evidence-based practice, and effective communication. Experience with postoperative/post-invasive patient care, IV/vascular access, and fall/skin-prevention initiatives are relevant, as are competencies in discharge planning and patient education. The position supports a hospital setting requiring professional nursing practice, ongoing learning, and participation in quality/performance-improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- BLS certification
- Nursing degree (RN)
- Ability to work in Medical-Surgical units as part of Float Pool
