Job Summary
Manage complex cases in fast-paced emergency environments while performing competent nursing care through the critical thinking model. Handle patient assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, and health promotion. Collaborate with patients and providers to ensure quality, evidence-based practice, and culturally congruent care. Complete required ACLS and PALS certifications prior to orientation, followed by a 10-week experienced nurse orientation period. This third shift role supports a cohesive, patient-first team at a Magnet status facility serving the Charlottesville area.
Required Qualifications
- Education Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing
- Registered nursing License
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- BLS certification
- BSN or MSN
- 2 years of hospital-based RN experience
- 2 years of Emergency Room Experience
- 2 years of acute care Registered Nurse Experience
- Full Time nurses have 16 hours of required call per 6 weeks
- Part Time Nurses have 12 hours of required call per 6 weeks
- Experienced Registered Nurses can expect an orientation period of 10 weeks on the unit
- Critical thinking model known as the nursing process
- Standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation)
- Standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health)
- Clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas
- Manage complex cases in fast-paced environments
- Communication with patients and providers

Desired Qualifications
- 2 Years of hospital-based RN experience is preferred for this role
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Critical care experience in hospital preferred
