Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room is responsible for performing patient assessments, determining the priority of care, providing immediate interventions, analyzing assessment data, and formulating and implementing an effective plan of care in collaboration with medical staff. Candidates must be actively enrolled in a BSN or MSN program and have at least one year of clinical experience. Current New Jersey licensure is required, along with BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications, and completion of various courses within specified time frames.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a BSN or MSN program from an accredited school of professional nursing within six months of hire or rehire and graduate on or before the third employment anniversary date into a nursing position
- One-year clinical experience required
- Current licensure with New Jersey State Board of Nursing
- American Heart Association BLS required
- American Heart Association ACLS required within 6 months of hire
- American Heart Association PALS required within 6 months of hire
- CPI initial for new hires to be completed within the introductory period, and renewal every 18 months
- Cardiac dysrhythmia required within 6 months of hire
- Critical Care Course within 1 year or 2 years CC experience or current CEN
- Completion of the Trauma Nurse Core Courses taught by the Emergency Nurses Association within 12 months of initial assignment or followed by a minimum of 8 contact hours of education every two (2) years in trauma assessment, intervention, and stabilization
Desired Qualifications
- BSN or MSN graduates preferred
- National Certification in specialty area preferred
