Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for designated patients while coordinating with the interdisciplinary health care team. Adhere to therapeutic standards, infection-control policies, and medication protocols to assure quality of care and protect patients. Document patient services, communicate irregularities, and maintain confidentiality through Nurse Knowledge Exchange techniques. Establish rapport with patients and families to promote independence by teaching self-care skills and answering questions. Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support, resolve patient problems using multidisciplinary strategies, and ensure equipment and supply inventory are maintained. Conduct initial comprehensive assessments, interpret findings to initiate interprofessional care plans, and supervise delegation of duties to the care team. Rotate shifts, standby, and on-call as needed, with local travel between system locations expected.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
- Strong leadership ability
- Good organizational skills
- Independent and critical thinking skills
- Sound judgment
- Knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program
- Current PALS or completion within one year of hire/transfer into department
- Current ACLS or completion within one year of hire/transfer into department
- NIH Stroke Scale – current or within 6 months of Hire/Transfer into Department
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearances
- Goggles, face shield and mask
- Lift assistance (2 person) and/or transfer device
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- One (1) year of med/surg, critical care or ER experience
