Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department providing patient-centered care with competency in assessment, planning, intervention, coordination, and evaluation. Responsibilities include effective handoffs, accurate documentation, education of patients and families, and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes. Requires Iowa RN licensure (or compact state), BLS certification, and ongoing professional development including ACLS within six months, TNCC/ENPC within 18 months, and related department-specific trainings. Prior acute care experience preferred; bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Sign-on bonus $15,000 available; part-time position with 24 hours weekly and variable shifts. Mercy Cedar Rapids and the ED/Hiawatha ED operate under Mercy’s patient-centered standards and safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Iowa or compact state
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training
- ACLS required within six months of hire if not current
- TNCC and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) within 18 months of employment
- Hiawatha Emergency Department requires completion of ACLS prior to end of orientation
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Certification preferred
