Job Summary
Lead the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act. Assess learning needs, implement teaching strategies for patients and families, and communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources effectively. Serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team while assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes and unit strategic goals. Adapt behavior to specific patient populations and embrace concepts that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards to ensure compliance with all regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to perform heavy work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to perform duties requiring exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to work in a patient care area where patients enter and works directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to handle occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Ability to handle occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
