Job Summary
Perform dialysis treatments while maintaining proficiency in technical skills and overseeing department staff delegation. Ensure compliance with water room equipment standards, infection control protocols, and CMS/ESRD-Renal Network regulations. Coordinate patient care with the Medical Director, nephrologists, and ancillary departments while acting as an advocate for patients and families. Develop and implement educational plans to address patient learning needs regarding dialysis processes and access management. Document all activities in patient records according to departmental policies and participate in quality assurance and process improvement efforts. Work primarily days with rotating weekends and holidays at the Avera Grassland Campus.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire
- The individual must be able to work the hours specified
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
- The ability to communicate effectively with others
- The ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds

- Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN) - Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) Upon Hire
- Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN) - Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) Upon Hire
- Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) - Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) Upon Hire
- Specialty Certification - The American Society of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ASHI) Upon Hire
- Dialysis experience or critical care experience
- 1-3 years nursing experience if functioning as a home dialysis nurse and an additional 3 months experience in each of the specific modalities (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) for which the nurse will provide self-care training
