Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) in a Neuro and Cardiac ICU setting with float responsibilities across units. Responsibilities include assessing the patient’s physical and psychosocial condition, developing and documenting a plan of care, coordinating care with the healthcare team, educating patients and families, and ensuring safe discharge. Role includes supervision of non-RN personnel, potential to serve as charge nurse, and precepting/mentoring newer staff. Essential skills include neuro assessment, airway management of neuro patients, care of trached patients, suctioning (pharyngeal/endotracheal/tracheostomy), ventilator management, understanding of devices such as Halo braces, and familiarity with advanced cardiac support devices and ECMO/temporary ventricular assist devices as applicable. Strong emphasis on teamwork, professional behavior, and adherence to scope and standards; opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- BSN preferred
- Current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire
- Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
- Clinical specialty certification encouraged
