Job Summary
Manages individualized, outcome oriented nursing care through the nursing process for patients in the Critical Care (CCU) unit with a focus on medication administration, plan of care development, and coordinated patient/family-centered care. Responsibilities include accurate medication administration and reconciliation, documenting care, facilitating discharge planning, ensuring patient safety and infection control per hospital policies, and maintaining professional development. Requires adherence to department policies, use of technology (Lotus Notes and department systems), and compliance with legal, regulatory, and privacy standards. The role emphasizes assessment and reassessment, communication with the care team and patient/family, and applying evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes. Minimum education is a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; licensure as an RN in Massachusetts is required, with department-specific certifications (BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC, TCAR) potentially required depending on the unit.
