Job Summary
Registered Nurse on the Cardiac ICU/Neuro-focused units provides comprehensive perioperative and post-operative cardiac and neuro patient care. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans; supervising non‐RN staff; serving as preceptor to new nurses and acting as charge nurse when needed. Demonstrates competencies in neuro assessment, airway management of neuro patients, care of trached patients, suctioning, and use of devices in advanced therapies (e.g., LVAD, ECMO). Works within the Cardiac ICU/Cardiothoracic ICU and vascular/stepdown environments to ensure high-quality patient outcomes, education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Requires licensure as an RN, adherence to unit policies, and professional behavior aligned with organizational values.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Current and active Registered Nurse license in Connecticut
- BSN preferred; clinical certification encouraged
- BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire
- Nursing practice governed by state standards and hospital policies
- Ability to function on cardiothoracic/critical care units and manage complex patients
