Job Summary
Clinical Documentation Specialist role for an RN: performs concurrent review of active patient records, queries medical staff to obtain complete documentation supporting severity of illness and risk of mortality, conducts initial and extended stay reviews, and collaborates with shifts/departments to optimize care continuity; requires strong critical thinking, excellent written/verbal communication, familiarity with Medicare reimbursement and coding practices, and ability to assess/plan nursing care per organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Valid Texas RN License/Eligible Compact License
- Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Minimum of 5 years of acute care experience
- CDI Certification required within 2 years of eligibility
- BSN required or must be obtained within 3 years of hire
