Job Summary
Registered Nurse on the Cardiac ICU/CICU team providing comprehensive neuro- and cardiac-critical care. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and supervising patient care; serving as preceptor to new staff and acting as charge nurse; coordinating with the healthcare team to develop and revise care plans; and performing advanced nursing duties such as neuro assessments, airway management (endotracheal/tracheostomy suctioning), ventilator care, and care for devices like ECMO, IABP, Impella, and LVADs. The role requires BSN-preferred education, active nursing licensure, and adherence to professional standards, with opportunities for professional development and career advancement within a high-acuity cardiac ICU environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Current US RN license (Connecticut initially mentioned, applicable state license as required by practice act)
- BSN preferred
- BCLS certification (or obtain within one month of hire)
- Clinical specialty certification encouraged
- Ability to function as preceptor and charge nurse
- Experience in neuro assessment and airway management including tracheostomy care and suctioning
- Experience with ventilated patients; familiarity with devices such as ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVADs
- Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and professional standards
