Job Summary
Assess patient status and determine priorities for acute, critical patients requiring intensive medical care. Implement clinical nursing interventions and develop patient care plans to enhance outcomes. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to conduct initial and ongoing assessments while observing the surgical team from a broad perspective. Manage nursing care within the OR, coordinating surgical team needs with other providers and delivering pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care including discharge instructions. This role involves delivering exceptional nursing care in the AM Admit Holding unit at St. Mary's Hospital, with a dominant 6am start time and no call on Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Nursing
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- BLS Basic Life Support
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Two years of RN experience in Critical Care Department
Desired Qualifications
- ACLS and/or PALS may be required within 6 months based on specific surgical department requirements
- CNOR Certified Perioperative Nurse
- SGNA Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates
- Completion of OR internship program
- Successful completion of Peri-op 101
