Job Summary
Clinical Nurse – Resource role within IU Health's float pool, providing competent, evidence-based care across inpatient settings including medical-surgical, progressive care, critical care, emergency, and specialty units. Requires system-wide flexibility to float between facilities and support care delivery across the IU Health system. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation; participation in clinical decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams; adherence to ANA standards and the organization’s ethics and policies; BSN and active Indiana RN license (or NLC) required; BLS and unit-specific advanced life support may be required. Emphasizes professional growth, patient-centered care, teamwork, and cross-functional relationship building across diverse clinical settings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) required
- Active Registered Nurse license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN License
- Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program
- 2 years of experience preferred; exceptions for more acute care experience considered
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA
- Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
- Adaptability and ability to manage change
- Experience in multiple specialties or readiness to broaden clinical scope
