Job Summary
Coordinate nursing and other services for residents within the neighbourhood and residence. Lead shift reports with the health care team to ensure all members are informed of changes in residents' status. Review and process physician orders promptly, communicating difficulties immediately to the Director of Care. Record significant changes in residents' condition, ensuring documentation adheres to AgeCare policies, Provincial College of Nurses standards, and relevant federal and provincial statutes. This Registered Nurse role supports the delivery of resident care within AgeCare's home-like communities across Alberta, BC, and Ontario, fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and quality while promoting health and safety awareness.
Required Qualifications
- Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations
- Knowledge of the appropriate sections of the Health Disciplines Act
- Knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of the Pharmacy Act
- Knowledge of the Food and Drugs Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Controlled Substances Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Health Promotion and Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Personal Health Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Coroners Act
- Knowledge of Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice
- Knowledge of other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statues which influence the operation of the Nursing Home and more specifically the nursing department
- Registration and membership in good standing with provincial registry
