Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN2) for Labor and Delivery at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. The role oversees direct and indirect nursing care using the nursing process, collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, and supports patient populations across multiple specialty areas (including L&D, ARTC, ICU, ED, Mother/Baby, OR, PACU, Cardiovascular, Device Clinic, and more). Requires BSN upon employment; ACLS within the first year; experience in specialty areas (e.g., L&D, critical care, oncology) as detailed per unit. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing and updating individualized care plans, delivering safe and evidence-based care, administering medications and IVs, ensuring accurate documentation, coordinating discharge planning, educating patients and families, and acting as a resource and role model for staff. The role may involve cross-coverage across units (e.g., Device Clinic RN responsibilities for pacemaker care), leadership duties as charge nurse when needed, and participation in performance improvement activities. Required Qualifications
- BSN is required upon employment
- ACLS required within first year of employment
- 2 years experience in relevant specialty areas depending on role (e.g., L&D, ICU, ED, etc.)
- OCN or chemotherapy/biotherapy certifications preferred for Oncology track if applicable
- PALS and CPI within first year of employment
- Pediatric/ NICU related certifications per track (NRP, etc.) as noted
Desired Qualifications
- BSN is required upon employment
- ACLS within first year of employment
- OCN or oncology certification is strongly preferred
- PALS/CPI within first year
- NRN-related certifications may be preferred
- 2 years of L&D experience or relevant specialty experience desired
- CCRN, CEN, or CCRN preferred for critical care tracks
