Job Summary
Perform comprehensive assessments of post-operative patients recovering from anesthesia, monitoring airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological status while recognizing and responding promptly to changes in patient condition. Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments safely, assess and manage post-operative pain using evidence-based practices, and educate patients and families regarding recovery expectations, pain management, and discharge instructions. Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and operating room staff to provide accurate patient handoff communication during transfers of care, support quality improvement initiatives, and serve as a resource for fellow nursing staff.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current Idaho Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Current BLS certification
- Current hospital nursing experience within the past five years or a recent nursing graduate within the past two years
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
- ACLS and PALS certifications
- Experience with electronic medical record systems
- Strong understanding of post-anesthesia recovery and airway management
- Knowledge of anesthetic medications and their effects
- Experience caring for post-operative patients
- Excellent assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to recognize and respond quickly to changing patient conditions
