Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care and treatment to ill, injured, or disabled inmates under limited supervision of a Nursing Director. Administer medications, transcribe and carry out doctor's orders, assess patients utilizing protocols, and triage. Provide clinical direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and direct care staff. Perform patient care in a clinic or hospital setting and assist in moving patients. Complete four to eight weeks of on-the-job training and successfully finish the fully paid Pre-service Training Program. Submit to a background security check and pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug test. Requires a current Nebraska RN license, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Required Qualifications
- A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance
- Must submit to background security check
- Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical examination and a drug test
- Must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services' Pre-service Training Program
