Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care under supervision, performing comprehensive assessments of biopsychosocial and medical histories while maintaining optimal patient health. Act as a patient advocate by developing self-advocacy skills, documenting all observations in the Patient Observation Record, and administering prescribed medications safely. Collaborate with the treatment team to develop master treatment plans, crisis plans, and nutritional requirements with the dietician. Participate in community meetings, group therapies, and unit milieu assessments to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment. Assume charge nurse roles as assigned and provide ongoing education to patients and families. Work part-time (24 hours/week) with rotating weekend shifts, including day, evening, and night rotations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Minimum of 2 years' prior relevant psychiatric experience
- Massachusetts RN license
- CPR Certified
- Knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes
- Knowledge of therapeutic relationships and processes
- Knowledge of age specific growth and development
- Knowledge of limit setting
- Knowledge of behavior and crisis management
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize independently
- Ability to multi-task in a changing and fast paced mental health environment
- Ability to work in a highly collaborate, team environment
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Physical agility to manage patients in crisis
- Ability to push, pull and lift 10 to 75 pounds
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend and stoop intermittently
- Availability for rotating weekends
- Part-time status (24 hours/week)
