Job Summary
Execute professional nursing care in accordance with physician treatment plans to provide comfort and well-being for psychiatric patients and their support systems. Perform initial assessments based on patient presentation, collect health data from patients, families, and providers, and document pertinent observations on the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment. Develop and implement individualized plans of care that integrate cultural, ethnic, and spiritual aspects while addressing pain management and patient education needs. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient progress, revise outcomes, and facilitate discharge planning. Maintain a safe environment by recognizing hazards, adhering to medication policies, and delegating tasks according to the Nurse Practice Act.
Required Qualifications
- Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a two year training at an accredited School of Nursing
- Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse
- BLS certification
- de-escalation training
- ACLS (ICU, Float pool, Emergency Dept)
- TCAR Certification (SICU, PACU)
- PALS
- TNCC
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity
- Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written format
- Analytical ability to assess and develop solutions to clinical situations or unit problems
- Ability to frequently lift/carry more than 75 lbs
- Ability to frequently push/pull more than 100 lbs
- Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb steps/ladder and reach above shoulders
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year critical care experience
- BSN
- Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia (e.g. CAPA)
- 1 year of nursing experience in preoperative, perioperative, or post-anesthesia care
- Experience in patient assessment, education, and care planning for pre and post-operative patients
- Prior experience in discharge planning and coordination of perioperative patients
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, including documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
