Job Summary
Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients while administering prescribed medications and treatments as ordered by the practitioner. Perform diagnostic tests including vital signs, peak flows, and blood glucose checks, and triage officer intake screenings for necessity and priority. Document care information concisely in appropriate forms, report treatment reactions and patient condition changes, and provide patient education on facility policies and discharge planning. Maintain aseptic techniques, collaborate on medical services, and recommend improved procedures to your supervisor. You may cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities, act as a back-up to the Site Manager, train new hires, and participate in in-service education sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
- May be directed to cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities
- May be asked to act as a back-up to the H.S.A/Site Manager
- May be asked to train new hires and coworkers
