Job Summary
Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients while administering prescribed medications and treatments. Check and record vital signs, perform triage officer intake screenings, and report reactions to treatments or changes in patient condition. Collaborate with practitioners for diagnosis and treatment, maintain aseptic techniques, and provide patient education on facility policies and discharge planning. Document care information concisely in appropriate forms and collect data for statistical reporting. May be directed to cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities or act as a back-up to the Site Manager. Train new hires and participate in in-service education sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
