Job Summary
Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients while administering prescribed medications and treatments. Perform emergency first aid, check vital signs, and triage officer intake screenings for necessity and priority. Collaborate with practitioners for diagnosis and treatment, maintain aseptic techniques, and provide patient education on correctional facility policies and discharge planning. Document care information concisely, report treatment reactions, and recommend improved procedures. May cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities or act as a backup to the Site Manager. Requires an active nursing license, BLS certification, and knowledge of the RN scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
