Job Summary
Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients while administering prescribed medications, treatments, and other tasks as ordered. Perform triage officer intake screenings, check vital signs, and record diagnostic test data. Provide emergency first aid, educate patients on facility policies and discharge planning, and report treatment reactions or condition changes. Collaborate with practitioners for diagnosis and treatment, maintain aseptic techniques, and recommend improved procedures. Notify supervisors of medical or security incidents and participate in in-service education. May cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities, act as a backup to the Site Manager, or train new hires. Requires an active nursing license, BLS certification, and documentation skills.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
