Job Summary
Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients by contacting practitioners for orders and administering prescribed medications and treatments. Perform emergency first aid, check vital signs, triage intake screenings, and collect data for statistical reporting. Document care information accurately, report treatment reactions and patient condition changes, and provide education on facility policies and discharge planning. Collaborate on medical services, maintain aseptic techniques, and recommend improvements to your supervisor. Notify leadership of incidents and participate in in-service education sessions. May cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities or act as a back-up to the Site Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
