Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive assessments, take vital signs, and document findings for patients in the medical and mental health units. Implement treatment care plans, distribute medications, and manage controlled substances in strict compliance with state and federal laws. Perform sick calls to provide provisional diagnoses for minor illnesses and injuries, while offering health counseling and reporting patient progress to appropriate personnel. Ensure accurate record-keeping and facilitate information flow regarding unit problems. This role involves working in a fast-paced correctional healthcare environment similar to an emergency room, requiring strong clinical competency and the ability to multi-task under the supervision of the Nurse Supervisor or Health Services Administrator.
