Job Summary
Assess patients' preoperative and postoperative status, including cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological systems, while interpreting monitor data and applying discharge scoring systems. Develop individualized perianesthesia plans of care to manage recovery from general, monitored, regional, and local anesthesia, ensuring patient safety through positioning, thermal, and injury protection. Administer medications safely, manage pain and comfort, and maintain organ system integrity, fluid balance, and normothermia. Provide patient education on psychosocial responses, nutrition, and wound management, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, delegating tasks, and documenting care accurately. Participate in quality review projects, performance appraisals, and daily safety huddles to foster continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience
- Medical / surgical nursing experience
- Current state licensure to practice within good standings
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification
