Job Summary
Assess patient preoperative and postoperative status, interpreting monitor data and applying scoring systems like the Aldrete Score to guide recovery plans. Manage patient recovery from anesthesia, administering medications safely and protecting patients from injury while maintaining physiological stability across multiple systems. Provide acute pain management, wound care, and education to patients and support persons, ensuring accurate hand-off reports and collaborating effectively with the team. Document nursing care completely and participate in quality review projects. Requires one year of PreOp or PACU experience, current state licensure, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience
- Medical / surgical nursing experience
- Current state licensure to practice within good standings
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification
