Job Summary
Assess patient preoperative and postoperative status across cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic systems. Interpret monitor data, apply discharge scoring systems like Aldrete and PADSS, and develop individualized perianesthesia plans of care. Manage patient recovery from general, monitored, regional, and local anesthesia while administering medications safely and protecting patients from injury, infection, and thermal sources. Provide acute pain management, maintain organ system integrity, and educate patients and support persons on psychosocial and procedural responses. Collaborate with teammates, delegate tasks per state Nurse Practice Act, and document care accurately. Participate in quality review, performance improvement projects, and daily safety huddles. One year of PreOp or PACU experience required; BLS required, ACSL preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience
- Medical / surgical nursing experience
- Current state licensure to practice within good standings
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification preferred
- ACSL
