Job Summary
Assess patient preoperative and postoperative status, including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic stability. Interpret monitor data, apply discharge scoring systems like Aldrete and PADSS, and develop individualized perianesthesia plans of care. Manage patient recovery from general, monitored anesthesia care, regional, and local anesthesia while administering medications safely. Provide acute pain management, wound care, and interventions to maintain organ system integrity and normothermia. Educate patients and support persons on psychosocial responses, nutrition, and medication management. Document nursing care accurately, delegate tasks per Nurse Practice Act, and collaborate effectively with other disciplines. Participate in quality review, performance improvement projects, and daily safety huddles. Maintain required competencies and pursue professional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience
- Medical / surgical nursing experience
- Current state licensure to practice within good standings
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification
