Job Summary
Conduct pre-operative patient assessments by interviewing candidates, reviewing test results, and evaluating pathophysiology to develop individualized perianesthesia plans. Administer medications safely, manage co-morbid conditions, and provide education on pain, nutrition, and wound care while protecting patient privacy. Serve as the primary contact for referral sources to direct patient screening and clearance, ensuring compliance with Universal Protocol and facility safety policies. Document care episodes accurately, participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, and engage in quality review projects. Requires one year of pre-op or surgical nursing experience, current state licensure, and BLS/ACLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- One year of pre-op, PACU, and/or medical / surgical nursing experience
- Current state licensure to practice within good standings
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification
Desired Qualifications
