Job Summary
Coordinate, implement, and plan nursing care in a timely and accurate manner. Perform comprehensive assessments on all patients upon admission using observation, communication, and examination skills. Plan individual patient care by identifying problems, establishing nursing diagnoses, and determining interventions consistent with standards of care. Plan for patient teaching, discharge, and post-discharge needs as appropriate. Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment while adhering to policy and competency-based assessments. Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer medications and solutions safely in accordance with hospital and departmental policies. Document accurately and timely. Reassess patient conditions, evaluate responses, and modify care plans accordingly. Accept charge responsibilities and assign tasks. Requires prolonged standing and working up to twelve hours a day.
Required Qualifications
- Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university
- Licensed in the State of Tennessee
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly
- Able to stand/work for up to twelve hours a day
- Able to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Basic arrhythmia within 6 months of hire
- ACLS within 6 months of hire
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification within 6 months of hire
- AACN, CCRN or CCP certification within two years of hire
- ONS chemo/immunotherapy certification within one year of hire
- At least one year of emergency experience preferred
- TNCC Preferred
- PALS within 6 months of hire
- ENPC or TNCC within 6 months of hire
- At least one year of pediatric in-hospital experience preferred
- At least one year of pediatric emergency experience preferred
