Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (Per-diem) role in a pediatric urgent care setting focuses on providing clinical and administrative support to providers, patients, and office operations. Responsibilities include obtaining medical history and vital signs, performing procedures such as venipuncture, IV insertion, and urinary catheterization, administering medications (oral, rectal, IM, IV), assisting physicians with patient care within the scope of practice, maintaining pediatric pharmacology knowledge, supporting quality control in the office and lab, preparing sterilization tools, ensuring exam rooms are stocked, and maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA. The role emphasizes teamwork, efficient patient flow, and responsive care, with ongoing opportunities for continuing education and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Active state nursing license or active compact state licensure
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended
- Pediatric experience is required; Pediatric ER, Pediatric hospital unit, or Pediatrics Urgent Care Experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical practice and terminology, clinic’s processes, and procedures
- Ability to use sound judgment and act calmly in emergencies
